Final Post

Through this project I have learned that reducing my ecological footprint can be both easy and fun. I have found it very easy to take shorter and colder showers. By the end of this project I have been able to reduce my ecological footprint by using less water and using less electricity. I will continue reducing the amount of hot water I use while taking a shower. The way I am helping the environment has made me feel like a better person. The changes I have made have changed the way I do even the simplest things like brushing my teeth and flushing the toilet. If the whole population would reduce the amount of water they used it would reduce our environmental footprint. I am going to create a power point depicting how I reduced my environmental footprint over the last few months. I have had a lot of fun taking shorter and colder showers.

Fourth update

This week has gotten so much easier with taking quicker showers. My showers have also gotten a lot colder as the days have gone on. My friends and family that have started taking shorter showers have also adopted taking colder showers also. Through this project I have come to the realization that I don't need to take long, hot showers and with this new found information about myself I can start making more much needed changes in my life.

Third update

The last week has been harder I slipped up once... It was a bit nippy one morning and it was just so hard to keep the cold water on. By now I have realized what a huge impact this is on my environmental foot print. My friends and family have also tried taking shorter showers as a starting  to reduce the amount of water they use each day. I have become so concerned with saving water that when my sister left the tap on while brushing her teeth I had to have a stern talk to her about her water usage.

Second Update

The last couple weeks have been the same as the first, but it has gotten easier as the days have passed. I have still been averaging 5 minute showers, but i have also started taking colder and colder showers to reduce the amount of hot water I use to cut back on electricity. My main goal is to cut back my shower use to under five minutes and to take ice cold showers. I think the rest of America should start taking shorter and colder showers in order to save on water and electricity, in turn saving the environment.

10/5/15 Update

Reducing my ecological footprint via reducing the amount of time I take in the shower is getting more and more difficult the lower I try to get my time. Even with some setbacks, the amount of time I am spending in the shower is slowly decreasing. I have gotten my average time in the shower down 50% already, however the rate of the rate of the time decreasing is slowing down, so eventually I will never be able to get below a certain amount of time in the shower. Overall I feel good about myself, albeit less clean. I am proud that I have been able to reduce my effect on the environment so far.

First Post

In order to reduce my ecological footprint I am reducing how long I will spend in the shower. My typical shower time is 20 minutes but by then end of this project my goal is to reduce my time by 75%, reducing the amount of electricity and water I use as a whole. This project will be extremely difficult, due to my high standards of cleanliness. However, my quality of life will improve knowing I am taking steps to improve the environment.
